Visitation Policy

You may request that we withhold public release of directory information. This information includes your general medical condition and your location within the hospital. You may opt out of the directory for the public, the clergy or both. This prohibition extends to all callers, which may include family, friends and/or clergy.

Visiting Hours

To promote healing and safety and limit infection, some units may limit the number of visitors you can receive at one time.

  • General Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Intensive Care Unit: Total visit time is limited to five minutes each hour at the discretion of your healthcare team (limited to family members or people living in your household). Visitors must use the phone outside the unit to identify themselves and their relationship to you.
  • Center for Women and Newborns: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The significant other or coach may visit at any time. He or she can stay overnight and sleep at the bedside. The unit observes Quiet Time between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. No visitors are allowed during this time.
  • Behavioral Health Unit: 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.
  • Isolation Rooms: Visitors are limited to two adult members of your immediate family or people living in your household at any time. Visitors need to check with the nurse before entering any isolation room. The nurse will instruct the visitors regarding the necessity of following isolation precautions.
  • Conclusion of Visiting Hours: The hospital operator will announce the end of visiting hours. All visitors are asked to leave at the end of visiting hours unless licensed nursing staff agrees to an extension.

Visitor Guidelines

We encourage well-wishers for emotional support and recovery. To provide a restful and safe environment, we ask that visitors follow these guidelines:

  • Do not visit if you have a cold, sore throat, fever or other illness.
  • Avoid noisy, disruptive behavior to help respect the healing of all patients.
  • Ask before bringing foods, drinks, or other items like balloons, flowers or perfume that might trigger allergies into patient rooms.
  • Wash your hands before entering a patient’s room.
  • Make sure all children have a supervising adult with them at all times.
  • For extended visitation, speak to your healthcare team.

Waiting Areas

There are specifically designated waiting rooms for families of patients in the Intensive Care Unit and designated areas on each floor of the new patient tower and the Center for Women and Newborns. Visitors also may wait in the main lobby. If there is something we can provide to make the wait more accommodating, please let a volunteer know.
